Brief summary of the project idea

An abandonment of traditional agriculture and industrialization context of agri-food systems, there has been a drastic reduction in the cultivation of local varieties of cereals and their replacement by new varieties associated with unsustainable agricultural systems, compromising the environment and the quality and originality of traditional products. This project aims to stimulate local agro-biodiversity in rural areas, promoting the production of traditional cereals and quality products derivatives (bread, dishes and other inputs, as well as drinks). It also aims to create traditional "Local Communities of Agro-Biodiversity Management" and enhance and upgrade processing plants (mills, bakeries, breweries ...).

The project aims to stimulate economic development, by identifying sustainable strategies valuation, short chain marketing and alternative market opportunities for quality products based on traditional cereal production, integrating them in the provision of local commercial circuits and / or gastronomic routes and / or tourist and / or heritage routes rural existing in rural areas . The projects is going to operate norte e centro de Portugal and Espanha, França and another European country that grow cereals for baking or another traditional product.

Proposed objectives / target group and activities

Develop training programs to encourage the local production of local cereal varieties and economic interest (commercial).
Encourage the integration of traditional varieties of cereals in the production process and improved techniques through practical plans to field demonstrations of new techniques and processes and best practices to be adopted.
MANAGEMENT Community Building AGRO-BIODIVERSITY local
Enhance and upgrade traditional processing plants (mills, bakeries, breweries) through specific support actions to local communities in the area of transformation.
To integrate the productive supply from commercial sources and / or tour of excellence, enhancing economic activities and traditional production, employment and services.
Transfer of knowledge and case studies of good practices.
