Nelson de Souza

State Secretary of Development And Cohesion since November 2015, Nelson de Souza was manager of the Operational Competitiveness Programme (COMPETE) / National Strategic Reference Framework (QREN) and the Incentive Programme for the Modernisation of the Economy (PRIME), administrator of the Portuguese Agency for SME and Innovation (IAPMEI) and programmes manager of the Specific Programme for the Development of Portuguese industry (PEDIP). He was State Secretary of Small and medium-sized enterprises, trade and services from the XIV Constitutional Portuguese Government, and chief of staff to the Minister of Economy from the XIII Constitutional Portuguese Government. He held the position of managing director of the Portuguese Industrial Association until the end of 2013. Before serving in the XXI Constitutional Portuguese Government, he was city manager of the Lisboa City Council, since February 2014.  Nelson de Souza was born in India, in 1954. He graduated in Finances from the Instituto Superior de Economia.
