Goran Šoster graduated on the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Maribor in Slovenia. From 1986 to 1989 he worked at the Municipality Ljutomer in analytical economic research. In the time of radical political changes in the Eastern Europe in late 80'ies, he was one of the leaders of the alternative movement of civil society in Slovenia. Since 1989 to 1998, director of the Mikrokozmos Ltd, well known as the pioneering group in organic agriculture in Slovenia. Since 1998 to present, director of the Prlekija Development Agency, manager of Local Action Group Prlekija. In 2003 he was one of the initiators of the Slovenian Rural Development Network. Eight years he was the chairman of that association, representing it in the European initiatives PREPARE and ELARD. Since 2016 he is the chairman of PREPARE aisbl – Partnership for rural Europe. 32 years of experience in the field of regional and rural development, organic agriculture, rural tourism and ecology are enriched with experiences from political engagement and activism in the participative democracy from local to the European level.
